“In times of war, the law falls silent”. ― Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman statesman, lawyer, scholar, writer and staunch republican, assassinated 43 BC on the orders of Mark Antony who was then defeated by Octavian, the future Emperor Augustus.
Aries 2025 has landed like a firecracker. More Russian strikes on Ukraine’s power infrastructure on Wednesday was followed on Thursday, the day of the equinox, by a Ukrainian attack on a Russian bomber base. Israel’s renewed bombardment of Gaza has caused more than 400 deaths this week, many of whom are children, heaven help them, because who else will. The US has told the UN that Hamas is to blame, and there is so much complexity in that to unpack.
And today, Heathrow airport has been action of action with an electric sub station in flames; chaos, misery and big questions as to the state of our national infrastructure, or whether there has been foul play, or both. Flights have now resumed again but the backlog will take days to clear.

On a purely individual mundane domestic level, my daughter’s cat, Custard, was hit by a car last night, requiring surgery, poor thing. In his pain and shock he bit my daughter, who is now, even as I type this, leaving Accident and Emergency with her partner, after the bite started showing signs of infection, getting red and hot. She has been given a course of antibiotics.
And there is me with a hot and swollen ankle, after experiencing a reaction to a heart medicine, even though it was prescribed at the lowest possible dose. A dose so low, the clinician described it as practically homeopathic. No wonder the Tower card has been showing up in my readings left, right and centre. In my own experience, the Tower means what it says in the most old fashioned way. Meaning, watch out. I have literally known it to accurately forewarn me, a day ahead of time, about a tyre blowout on a motorway, a scam at the Tower of Pisa, and an actual tornado. Here, in the North west of England where we don’t get tornadoes. Except, just this one time, we totally did, however teeny and unimpressive by the standards of other parts of the world.
Story here: The Tower card, a teeny earthquake and a tiny Tornado
The Tarot cards associated with Aries are The Emperor, the Queen of Wands and the Ace, 2, 3 and 4 of Wands.
The Emperor is not behaving at his best today.

The Emperor sets the scene for the zodiac sun sign of Aries. Note the ram skulls decorating his throne. The Emperor of the Ram seeks to claim territory and to create and impose order in that territory. At his best, he rules wisely, with care and justice. He is the best of fathers. Or he is an able administrator. At his worst, he is a bully; an overbearing or inefficient bureaucrat, or a tyrant and a warmonger.
Card Meanings: Aries timing, war, government, a man of authority, virility, parent, employer, a military man, maturity, order, experience, hard won leadership, discipline, authority, government, organizations, rules, bureaucracy, doing things by the book, ego, I am in charge, what I say goes, bully, tyrant, warmonger.
The Emperor, like The Tower card, is ruled by Mars. Storms happen. Here is an old old post from my blog…one of several…about The Tower card. https://truetarottales.com/tag/the-tower/
But the next card in the deck is The Star.
Sometimes, however, The Tower has to happen before we can get The Star. Maybe, just every now and then, we are The Tower or we need to act that way. We all need Mars power onside at some time or another. I have found in the past, not often, just a very few times, that instant, full-on anger has been the immediate, natural and ultimately best response in a situation where there has been a threat. Anger drives action, which drives out fear. Twice, it was in a situation where as a young woman, I was physically assaulted by a strange man, once when walking home from work in the early evening, another time when I was walking to walk in the morning, with plenty of people around, who watched but did not intervene. I was surprised afterwards, at the instantaneousness of my own rage and aggression in response. And it could have backfired. But it didn’t, and it served me well. And later, when I became a parent, I found out first hand the truth of this, while deploying the Mars energy far more diplomatically….
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength but loving someone deeply gives you courage.”― Lao Tzu
Now ain’t that the Emperor, and Aries Power at its…and his…very best.
Thank you for reading.
Back again soon with more about Aries. and the decans.
I’ve mostly seen the tower card as a blessing in disguise. It may be a shock, but the outcome is always a blessing. Spirit delivers this card to let us know that whatever is not good for us is finally coming down. At 72, I’ve been reading most of my life and find it interesting how so many readers interpret cards differently. I mean no disrespect hun, and certainly understand where you’re coming from. Blessings to you…
Wow, the synchronicities … I trust both you and your daughter are on the mend 😊. I am trusting in the universe - that the current political circus is a tipping point for each individual to reclaim their power as our collective … enough 🙏. As always, thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.💚
