General Tarot for Taurus Season 2024

What sort of picture do we get, looking through the lens of the tarot cards?

Context is key, obtaining the most detailed, directed and precise feedback or forecasts, drilling down on specifics in a Tarot reading. We have to know where to point the telescope. The Tarot will still show us things, totally unsolicited. The reader might pick up on absolutely anything at all, whether or not there is any possibility or verification, validation or corroboration, which in a client reading, often there is.

But a timely, relevant or meaningful interpretation - workable intel- demands a premise, a brief or a question. This Elemental Spread offers only the broadest and general overview or mood board, working at both the macro and micro level, asking “what may we see, experience, expect or prepare for this coming Taurus Season 2024, collectively or individually?”

The reader’s not asking much, really. Huh. Just flying a kite. What’s the overall mood? Is there a shape? A theme? A dominant suit or a dominant number?

North/Earth: Job, money, home, material affairs, present and immediate issues

The World: Major Arcana…a big card. A big month. This card is ruled by Saturn. Cycles are closing out. Older people know we are coming to the end of a big story in our lives, both collectively and personally. We are really feeling it, that nothing will feel the same way again, for ourselves or for society. But the world keeps on turning and we must move with the times. In practical terms we may be changing jobs, ending a contract or a relationship or finishing a personal project.

West/Water: Relationships, social occasions, family, well-being, creative/artistic matters, recent past.

The Page of Wands: This is young, dynamic energy, dealings with young people, education. Lots of quick-fire communications, a job comes in, we hit the ground running. Short journeys. Maybe a short fuse. Likely good news. Maybe a letter from a bank, hospital or a government letter.

Update: an hour after posting, and this is big news. “After months of stalling, the US House of Representatives (Hierophant/Taurus/Money) finally approved more than $61bn worth of military assistance to help Ukraine (6 Cups) in its desperate defense against Russia, as well as billions for other allies including Israel and Taiwan”.

South/Fire: Passion, drive, inspiration, purpose, challenges, obstacles.

The Hierophant: Ruled by Taurus. Another major arcana card, looking The World card in the eye with a lot of noise in the space between them. Money makes the human world go round. But who is really in charge? The governments or the banks? The Hierophant places a focus on our work and income this month, but also the shared money- and enjoyment of marriages and long term partnerships. Progress attached to publishing, arts, crafts and teaching looks likely in April and May. Maybe we’re seeing a health consultant. This card rules Ireland, Maybe the living Pope himself will feature in the news. Other countries astrologically associated with Taurus may also be witnessing - or steering- the closing out of a chapter in history. Interestingly, these countries include Yemen, South Africa (which brought and lost a case against Israel under the 1948 Genocide Convention) and Capri, Italy, where the G7 is meeting at this very time of writing (20/4/2024)

The Hierophant, Taurus in a see-saw with The World card just as we approach the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in the sign of Taurus. Turf wars. Earth goes flying. This may describe natural events as well as human activities. Or it may be entirely metaphorical.

East/Air: Intellect, strategy, planning, law, medicine, next steps, near future.

Six of Cups: Childhood. Children. Old haunts, friends, memories. In this spread position, we are talking about children’s hospitals and children’s charities. This is intense Scorpio energy from the time of the Full Moon 23 April until later in Taurus season. Memories run deep. Old haunts. Our younger days. The things we hoped for or thought we would do. We are revisiting the past or we may hear from old friends. There is much preoccupation, but also the prospect of enjoyment and time spent with children, family. Feelings of relief, relaxation and well-being at the end of the month coinciding with a helpful Jupiter Neptune sextile in the last degrees of Taurus and Pisces. This helps clear up domestic problems and confusion.

Central theme/mood

Five of Wands: the element of fixed fire. This is Leo energy. This is fighting energy. We may feel as if we are constantly on the go, fixing things, chasing things and generally trouble-shooting this Taurus season. The card reflects a busy or demanding time with lots going on, lots of noise, but it is not inherently unfriendly or malefic.

Advice card: The Moon

This month’s Full Moon April 23 will be a super intense lunation in Scorpio, the Eighth House of Money, Secrets, Sex, Death and Regeneration.

We do not need the Tarot to tell us these are dangerous times for the world in general. This Taurus season 2024 we have a continuation of war on multiple fronts, and the real and present threat of escalation. Aries energy continues strong this Taurus season. This can be helpful when we need energy for action and decision making this coming month. 

Biden seems to mean what he says when he says he will not desert Israel. This is shown by the appearance of the Eight of Cups reversed. We see a figure, a man, NOT walking away. However, Biden is also looking determined not to lend Israel more military support that goes beyond the support of defense. This is shown by the Ace of Swords reversed. The Death card says Biden’s election chances in November (The Death card is Scorpio season) may depend upon the US not going to waron behalf of Israel, or not being seen to go to war, and he knows it.

So much for the utterly desperate civilians stranded helpless as fish in a barrel in Rafah where they were ordered to go by Israel, crammed up against the Egyptian border. Where is their defense from Hamas. None is coming. They are sacrificial lambs. Wars are fought politically as well as militarily. It serves Hamas politically to have the world witness the horror of their deaths in the tens of thousands at the hands of Israel. Just as here comes the Jupiter Uranus conjunction in Taurus.

So much for the grieving and terrified families in Israel. Speculation seems idle, pointless, if not cruel. But the Palestinians, and the families bereaved by Hamas and the Israeli hostages deserve more than just a respectful silence. It seems certain many of the Israeli hostages have died under Israeli air strikes, along with the Palestinian casualties. The Tarot suggests there are still surviving hostages. Maybe held beneath a holy building.

Biden, it seems apparent, has for some time been exasperated to say the least with Netanyahu. Biden’s priorities now include containing the supply and price of oil (engines, that 5 Wands) given the already added pressure on oil Russian-Ukraine war and the forthcoming US election in November (Scorpio the Death card.) He gauges the American people will not support a policy of unlimited support for Israel, but the Zionist lobby is powerful.

For all we can know, this may have been at least partly humanitarian in design. It also served to divide the Palestinians politically as well as geographically, fortifying Hamas, presumably with the strategic objective of undermining the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. Divide and rule, while allowing in ever more illegal Jewish settlers, 490 000 now living in settlements in the West Bank in a breach of international law. Netanyahu is in a difficult position with a divided war cabinet. Israel’s relatively measured attack on Isfahan in response to Iran’s massive drone attack in response to Israel’s attack on the consulate in Tehran, which was in response to….

Israel’s latest seemingly somewhat measured response to Iran’s drone attack may be read as room for hope for avoidance of a regional escalation. But the scale of the new attacks in the West Bank and in Rafah is merciless. What is the end game? I pull the Joker. He’s not funny. Ground Zero. Will Israel go too far? What will be agreed as being “too far”? The Joker represents the Number Zero. Divine or Karmic portal. Zero sum game. Fresh start. Total re-set. What kind of reset? I draw the 2 of Diamonds. Things move very fast. Talks coming in Taurus season? Reinstatement/reset of the proposal of the regional 2 State solution?

In Ukraine, Putin is re-energized by his re-election, and though he may “settle” for a recognition of the Russian claim to Crimea and the Donbas as the terms for a peace in the short term, why would Putin want to stop until Russia can reabsorb its outlying Oblast of Kaliningrad?

A German friend cheerfully advises me that Germany has no interest in reclaiming their former city of Königsberg which Germany lost to Russia in WW2. But as Poland would most energetically point out, that is beside the point. Where else beyond Kyiv would he have to go through to create that land corridor? This is a key territorial objective as illustrated in previous readings by repeated appearances of the 2 of Pentacles.

Will Russia take Kyiv? Or Odessa? I have looked many times but I have not been seeing that. What I have been seeing since 2022 is that Zelenskyy (who for personal courage knocks spots off Putin any day of the week) will survive, but be forced to cede yet another chunk of territory, sold short by his allies, this as shown by repeated appearances of The Hanged Man when asking about the final outcome. Putin won’t get what he wants either. But he looks almost certain to get more than he should.

Possible key timings associated with The Hanged Man: Pisces 2025, during Saturn in Pisces or when Saturn leaves Pisces. Saturn entered Pisces March 7, 2023. Saturn leaves Pisces May 24, 2025 BUT enters Pisces again August 31, 2025 and does not finally leave until February 13 2026. This is the home of the Twelfth House. Deepest currents of world destiny.

Putin may ultimately agree to settle for less, for now. But he has no reason to, yet. Grinding away. What does he care how many Russian lives he spends? That’s what they are for, so far as he is concerned. He, personally, so far as I can see in the cards, looks unlikely to see in his lifetime, the Russian reintegration of Kaliningrad. But he won’t settle for no big new territorial gains. Putin is a Libra native. His birth data may not be reliable, but again and again he shows up as the Queen of Swords, - Libra. The annular solar eclipse in 5 degrees of Libra, 2 October 2024 is likely to mean something very big indeed for Putin. The card is the Two of Swords. Peace. Truce. Stalemate. Standoff. On an everyday health level, it can mean opticians and dentists.

The effects of eclipses, the one in Aries of 8 April, and the one in Libra coming up 2 October, may make themselves completely apparent, manifesting immediately in real time. But they bring an undertow that carries on rolling for months afterwards.

But we’re talking about this Taurus season. Not only globally but closer to home things are likely to get unusually intense both at work and at home, although this isn’t necessarily bad news, just hectic, and there are promising signs to do with new travel, work or creative opportunities, money, a happy family get-together and other friendly meet-ups.

We’re navigating the unknown to a degree we haven’t experienced so intensely for some time, or not since the covid pandemic. We’re functioning on a high alert level and with cortisol spikes to match, no doubt. But though we’re right to trust our instincts, we will navigate this month with least stress by avoiding knee jerk reactions under pressure, keeping our distance, and keeping our own counsel like the High Priestess.

If in doubt, don’t wade in. Watch and wait till you are confident that you have a clearer understanding of the situation. Take another leaf out of her book. Drink a glass of pomegranate juice. Good for you. Low in sugar. High in antioxidants. Lowers cholesterol. The High Priestess has been around a long, long time. It stands to reason she knows a thing or two. Sporting that full moon headdress, with the crescent moon bull horns of Taurus.

These are….interesting times. But Taurus keeps us rooted, and in the woods now, a hundred shades of fresh new green. We are here, you and I. What kind of a stupendous miracle is this?
