The tidal metaphor is powerful, and I'm certainly feeling it in my personal life as a long tide ala a deep purge. I live on a coast with several rivers meeting it. The changes of tides, impact of rain or dry spells on the rivermouth flows and silt, watching what the tides bring in etc...it's very clear to see the relationship between the power of water and the shaping of land. It hasn't quite made we many to ' head for the hills ' just yet, rather perhaps helped me find a peace with both sudden an slow change. What a gift that is these days. Thanks for your insights. And a happy new year to you.

Thank you Wonder Verse. "And the shape of the land is us, is us"...we are on a constructive margin here in Lancashire. The sea is ever farther out, but yes...it floods. How do we accommodate the inevitable retreats of the tides and the sorrow without being swept away or bogged down? Roots and branches. Little surprise here Wonder Verse, but you truly express a poetic understanding. This feels like a year of turning points.

I only wish I could detect imminent better news on a much wider front, Wildflower. But within the personal sphere, yes, this does denote a helpful wind coming in for a few weeks. And maybe it will act constructively on the macro plane too. Let us hope so.
